150 people joined us for our Women in Machine Learning event on August 10 at Mercari. This event was organized in collaboration with Women Who Code Tokyo, a local chapter of the global nonprofit Women Who Code, an initiative that is supporting women to excel in tech careers.

We heard two fantastic talks by Shreya Sharma (Data Science Researcher, NEC Corporation) on Geospatial Intelligence with AI and Lana Sinapayen (Researcher, Sony CSL and ELSI) on Artificial Life. We then invited the audience to ask questions and actively discuss the talks and related topics during the panel session.

This was the third Women in Machine Learning event initiated by Machine Learning Tokyo, an effort to highlight the work of female engineers and researchers and to inform, support and empower women considering a career in Machine Learning, Data Science and related fields. Our events are inclusive, we especially encourage women to participate, but welcome supporters to join regardless of gender or background. Women in Machine Learning events are held every 6 months. If your initiative or company is interested in collaborating or supporting the next Women in Machine Learning event kindly send an email to machinelearningtokyo@gmail.com.
